Direct-Drive Fan and Belt-Drive Fan are two common fan drive mode, their main differences are reflected in the drive mode, structure, efficiency and maintenance.
1. Driving method:

Direct-Drive Fan adopts the electric motor to connect directly with the fan impeller, and the motor rotor shaft directly drives the impeller to rotate; while Belt-Drive Fan drives the belt through the electric motor, which in turn drives the fan impeller to run, and the power between the motor and the impeller is transmitted through the belt and pulleys.

2. Structure:

Direct-Drive Fans have a relatively simple structure without belts, pulleys and other components, so installation, adjustment and maintenance are easier; Belt-Drive Fans require additional belts and pulleys, and have a more complex structure.

3. Efficiency:

Direct-Drive Fans because there is no intermediate transmission device, power transmission efficiency is higher, less loss, suitable for high-efficiency occasions. Belt-Drive Fan because of the belt drive friction loss, efficiency is relatively low.

4. Maintenance and noise:

Direct-Drive Fan due to the simple structure, maintenance is more convenient, and running noise; while the belt fan need to regularly check the wear and tear of the belt, belt tension also need to be adjusted, and running noise.

5. Applicable occasions:

Direct-Drive Fan for the need for high efficiency, low-maintenance occasions; Belt-Drive Fan is suitable for the need for greater power or adjust the fan speed occasions.

In general, the direct drive fan is more efficient and easy to maintain, while the belt fan is suitable for the need to flexibly adjust the situation.
